butbeyondthat，thedegreeofintimacybetweenthemandthereasonsforthesharedinterestsvaryenormously。Aswegettoknowpeoplewetakeintoaccountthingslikeage，race，economicconditions，socialposition，andintelligence。Althoughthesefactorsarenotofprimeimportance，itismoredifficulttogetonwithpeoplewhenthereisamarkeddifferenceinageandbackground。

Somefriendlyrelationshipscanbekeptonargumentanddiscussion，butitisusualforclosefriendstohavesimilarideasandbeliefs，tohaveattitudesandinterestsincommen---theyoftentalkabout"beingonthesamewavelength"。itgenerallytakestimetoreachthispoint。Andthemoreintimatelyinvolvedpeoplebecome，themoretheyrelyononeanother。
